Watch what's been watching you

Surveillance cameras now appear on the map, worldwide.

Sourced from OpenStreetMap and reported by Pelican drivers.

Every Pelican driver can share hazards , closures , accidents , police and more with Scout reports , giving you a real-time understanding of the roads around you.

You can share reports from the map and in CarPlay. Reports don't show who filed them, and they expire over time to keep the map fresh. You can even suggest edits to the map, such as adding missing stop signs, speed cameras, and sharing feedback on route quality, which contributes to improving OpenStreetMap.

Pelican has a powerful on-device navigation engine built on top of OpenStreetMap and optimized for Apple Silicon. Get lane guidance for upcoming maneuvers, always see the current road's speed limit, and navigate in incognito mode.

Pelican shows stop signs, traffic lights, yield signs, speed bumps and red light cameras on the route ahead of you to help with navigation.

See your current speed, either from GPS or OBD, and get personalized visual indications when you're above the speed limit.

Leave the map better than you found it

Pelican contributes to and makes use of OpenStreetMap, the world's largest open source map. When a speed limit, stop sign, traffic light or camera is missing or wrong, you can suggest fixes right from Pelican. Pelican triagers will review it and map editors can land the fixes directly to OpenStreetMap.

Common questions

Why does Pelican exist?

Maps rarely know what you drive, how you drive, or the roads you prefer to travel, and even more rarely in a way that respects your privacy. Pelican exists to fill that gap. Read the full story.

Which OBD scanner should I get?

Check out the handbook for the full list of tested scanners.

Does OBD work with my car?

Pretty much every car sold in the US since 1996, or in Europe since 2001, has an OBD diagnostic port. Most cars support a common standard of parameters, and there are many make/model-specific parameters too. Learn more in the car catalog.

Is my location data shared?

Trip logs stay on your phone and back up to your private iCloud Drive; Pelican doesn’t collect your trip data.

How do I report a bug?

In the app, open Settings > Product feedback. You can attach a diagnostic trace of your last 48 hours in Pelican, which helps diagnose bugs. Traces are deleted after 90 days.
