About Mercury

Mercury was a Ford Motor Company car brand introduced in 1938. Edsel Ford created it to serve customers between the Ford and Lincoln ranges. Its first car, the 1939 Mercury 8, used a 95-horsepower V8.1

The brand’s models included the Cougar, introduced for 1967, and the long-running Grand Marquis. Mercury also shared a sales division with Lincoln after World War II.1

Ford discontinued Mercury, with the final car, a Grand Marquis, leaving the assembly line on 4 January 2011.1
