About Škoda
Škoda Auto is a Czech car maker. Its history began in 1895, when Václav Laurin and Václav Klement founded the Laurin & Klement bicycle factory in Mladá Boleslav. The company made its first car in 1905. In 1925, Laurin & Klement merged with the Škoda Works in Plzeň.12
Volkswagen Group received 31 percent of the shares on April 16, 1991. It became the sole shareholder on May 30, 2000. Škoda is now a Volkswagen Group brand.23
The range includes the Fabia, Octavia, Kodiaq and Enyaq. Major markets include Germany, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and India. In 2025, Škoda was the third best-selling car brand in Europe.4
