About Volvo
Volvo Cars is a Swedish passenger-vehicle manufacturer whose first car, the ÖV4, left its Gothenburg factory on 14 April 1927. Its later model families include sedans, station wagons and SUVs.1
Volvo introduced the three-point safety belt in 1959. Other engineering milestones include the 850’s transverse five-cylinder layout and the Inflatable Curtain side-impact protection system.12
The Duett established Volvo’s wagon lineage in 1953, while the XC90 introduced a large SUV in 2002. Geely acquired Volvo Cars in 2010, and the XC40 Recharge became its first battery electric car in 2020.123
